Benevolent Fund and Other Charities

Over the past 10 years, the St. Nicholas Cathedral Benevolent Fund has provided more than $150,000 in support to individuals and organizations that do good work. Requests are reviewed by a committee of five and Fr. Valery.

In 2020, the committee made repeat grants to the National Capital Area Food Bank; So Others Might Eat, a community organization that provides shelter, food, and health care; the International Orthodox Christian Charities (IOCC) for relief efforts; Christ House, a DC homeless and health care shelter, and to individuals needing help to meet their rent and utility payments.

We are very grateful to everyone who has donated to the Benevolent Fund and who helps support the Clergy Discretionary Fund, which is used to help parishioners in need. Thank you for your generosity.
