St. Lazarus Saturday Paschal Preparation Day: Please note that the Annual St. Lazarus Paschal Preparation Day will be held on Saturday, April 2, 2015. The Day will start with Divine Liturgy at 9:30 A.M. After that, we will have a Luncheon and Paschal Preparation Activities, starting at about 11:00 A.M. (after the completion of the Divine Liturgy).
As always, the Luncheon is free for Children; adults - $10.00. Also, each family must bring at least 1 dozen hard boiled eggs for decorating. If you would like to donate funds for the event, please contact Ksenia Panomarenko: firstname.lastname@example.org.
The Activities will include Pisanki, American egg dyeing, Paschal cookie decorating, making Paschal Candles, Palm weaving, etc. As always the children will help make and decorate Paschal baskets for elderly or infirm parish members who may not be able to attend liturgy on Pascha. ALL ARE WELCOME!
As new year starts we would like you to look into the following few items:
1) As Sunday school begins in 2 weeks, we encourage you to start enrolling your children for this upcoming year. Please register using the form on St. Nicholas Cathedral website, http://www.stnicholasdc.org/information_for_parents.html;
2) We need to arrange the schedule of providing snacks on Sundays before classes. Please see our Sunday school calendar for this semester, http://www.stnicholasdc.org/sundayschool.html, and let Ksenia Panomarenko know which dates you are willing to cover;
3) Please express your opinion whether we should form parents' committee which would, among others, handle organization of events, address parents' concerns and requests. Please contact Ksenia Panomarenko at email@example.com
Since St. Nicholas Sunday school classes begin September 7th, we encourage parents to enroll their children without delay to facilitate timely coordination of age groups/class divisions, assignment of teachers and determination of curriculum. The Sunday school fee of $25 does not have to accompany the application but may be paid later. Sunday school applications may be filled out on line from the "Sunday School" link on the St. Nicholas website and submitted to the e-mail of the Sunday school coordinator, Ksenia Panomarenko: firstname.lastname@example.org. Applications are also available at the candle counter to be filled out and submitted to either Ksenia Panomarenko or the church office. The sooner we determine the total number of applicants and their ages, the more efficiently and quickly we will be able to finalize the organization of classes and teachers in time for our opening day.
